Fall
Colors Fall colors start in mid-September and go into mid-October. The peak season can vary from year to year. Give us a call for an an update. The Gunflint Trail is a great place to take a fall colors drive, hike or biking trip. From our lodge you can take numerous back roads or drive up to the end of the Gunflint Trail and back. Along your way up Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior you'll see the incredible colors of the Maples, during mid-September. Let's not forget grouse hunting. Grouse are very abundant in the region surrounding Windigo Lodge. The grouse season runs from mid-September thru February. The best hunting starts after most of the leaves have fallen off the trees, usually in mid-October, and peaks in December when the hunting pressure has diminished. |

Winter
Activities During our long winter (December - March), try: ~ Cross-country skiing ~ Snowshoeing ~ Icefishing ~ Snowmobiling ~ Groomer Rides ~ Dogsledding We can help you find a good ski trail, a place to try your luck icefishing, or even have a dogsled team pick you up from your cabin door. Snowmobile rentals, fishing guides and dogsled teams are available - please arrange these services by calling 1-800-535-4320, as early as possible before your trip. |
